Fangda Group North Heavy Industries: Successful Hoisting of Super-Large Ball Mill Shell
On December 3, a key milestone was achieved at the Liaoning (Yingkou) Coastal Industrial Base—the first super-large ball mill shell developed by North Heavy Industries for the multi-metal complex gold-silver ore comprehensive recovery, upgrading, relocation, and expansion project of Yingkou C&D Shenghai Non-ferrous Metal & Chemical Technology Co.,LTD. was successfully hoisted after precise coordination, marking a new phase in the project’s construction.
As the core power equipment for the project, the ball mill shell used in C&D Shenghai’s multi-metal recovery project has a diameter of approximately 5 meters, a length of 9.5 meters, and weighs 108 tons. The installation process demands extremely strict requirements for flatness and coaxiality. Additionally, constrained by the workshop’s spatial layout, this hoisting operation was the most challenging task in the project.
To ensure flawless execution, NHI’s on-site service team adhered to the principle of “precision control and absolute safety,” collaborating with design, construction, and technical teams to repeatedly optimize the hoisting plan and refine every operational parameter.
Throughout the hoisting process, the command team provided precise coordination, while the hoisting and installation personnel worked in close cooperation. From lifting, transporting, to aligning and securing, each step was seamlessly integrated, ultimately achieving smooth positioning and precise alignment of the shell with “zero deviation” throughout the entire process. This fully demonstrates NHI’s robust technical expertise and efficient team collaboration capabilities.
It is reported that the C&D Shenghai multi-metal recovery project has a total investment exceeding 10 billion yuan and is being constructed in two phases. Upon full completion, it is expected to achieve an annual output value of nearly 100 billion yuan and create over 2,000 jobs.
The ball mills, SAG mills, and vertical mills required for the project are all manufactured and installed on-site by NHI.
